Soffer Avocats is a litigation firm based in Paris.  It was founded by Ron Soffer in 1994.

Soffer Avocats has, over the years, represented clients in different sectors of the economy including the banking and investment funds sectors, distribution, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, information technology and software, health services, infrastructure, real estate and the art sector.

The fields of litigation are diverse and include, criminal, commercial, antitrust, intellectual property, securities, civil, administrative and human rights.

Since its inception, Soffer Avocats has represented clients before the various courts and courts of Appeals in France, and has also accumulated substantial experience in coordinating and in defining the strategy in international and multi-jurisdictional litigation.

Ron Soffer is experienced in representing US and other foreign clients in France before the French courts and in working with general counsels of US corporation through the significant differences in procedural and evidentiary concepts.

Mr Soffer has also led and coordinated litigation for European clients in the various courts in New York and other States in the United States.  He represented European clients who were the subject of a criminal investigation led by the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York.

He has  coordinated litigation in Singapore and Hong Kong.  He gained experience in combatting Mareva Injunctions and has substantial experience in comparative procedure, specifically in managing the differences between common law and civil law jurisdictions both in  civil and criminal proceedings.

Mr Soffer worked together with U.S. patent attorneys on an IPR case presented to the U.S. Patent Office.

Mr Soffer is an experienced litigator and regularly deals with issues of conflict of laws and jurisdictions.  He has argued in courts not only in France, but also in New York, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  He has, over the years, developed a strong working relationship with local lawyers in various foreign jurisdictions.

Mr Soffer has coordinated litigation for American and other clients in France and other European jurisdictions such as Germany, Holland, Hungary, Switzerland, Luxemburg and Lichtenstein.  He represented a client in a major case before the courts in Morocco.  He presented cases to the European Court of Human Rights and has in the past worked on cases involving public international law presented to the Israel Supreme Court.

Soffer Avocats is well versed in the U.S. discovery rules.

Soffer Avocats has worked on cases of enforcement of foreign judgements in France and on the attainment of interim measures.

Mr Soffer litigated cases before the French Competition Authority and acted as a counsel in French antitrust investigations.

Ron Soffer is in the panel of arbitrators of the International Center for Dispute Resolution of the American Arbitration Association and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration.

The associates of the firm have all accumulated substantial experience in litigation.

Agnes Peresztegi, of counsel to the firm, is world renowned for her expertise in the field of restitution of art stolen by the Nazis and their allies in World War II.
